Developing My Idea and discussing Wymering

Image
In a 2007 conference, Norman Foster stated:  “As an architect you design for the present, with an awareness of the past, for a future which is essentially unknown." In light of my research, I propose that Wymering Manor use furniture to symbolize history—that is, design for the now, awareness of the past, and preservation for the future. This is essentially unknown at times. Historic Overview: Wymering Manor, the oldest house in the Old Wymering Conservation Area and Portsmouth, was a high-status structure with expensive facades and delicate glazing. Its ashlar-dressed chimney stack and ornate interior design were designed to attract attention and serve as symbols of extraordinary wealth. The north gable end and a portion of the west elevation showcase its impressive features. Wymering Manor has undergone numerous alterations over the past 400 years to accommodate new occupants and uses. However, our understanding of these alterations is incomplete and subject to change due t...

Wymering Manor House Analysis

Image
Wymering Manor is in a highly linked region, therefore turning it into furniture makes the most sense, according on my demographic study. This provides a historic platform for the neighborhood and links the festival to local history displays and resources. In addition, this will serve as a new attraction that the neighborhood may enjoy and will bring the community together. There aren't many attractions or furniture exhibits near the mansion because it sits in the heart of a big housing area.

Creative Theories: Thinking and Making [Week 01]

Interior design and architecture employ various theories of thinking and making, guiding the creative process through various viewpoints and methods. There is no single overarching philosophy, but several guiding concepts and ideologies influence how designers and architects approach their work. Some key features of these creative philosophies include:                          Fig: The Picture Collection from online Design thinking is a method of problem-solving that places a strong emphasis on brainstorming, empathy, and prototyping in order to provide creative solutions.
